Lifetime of Pi is a 2012 adventure drama film[11] based on Yann Martel's 2001 novel of the same name. Oriented by ANG Robert E. Despite winning the Oscar for Top Visual Effects at the 2013 Honorary society Awards, Rhythm & Hues Studios (who provided most of the sense modality effects for the moving-picture show) was forced to file for bankruptcy happening February 11, 2013, citing unfair rival from subsidised and revenue enhancement exempt foreign studios.[91] This sparked a demonstration of nearly 500 VFX artists who protested foreign the 2013 Honorary society Awards.[92] Inside, during the Oscars, when R&ere;H visual effects supervisory program Bill Westenhofer brought up R&ere;H during his acceptance lecture for Life of Pi, the mike was cut turned.[93] This started an uproar among umpteen visual effects industry professionals, dynamic visibility pictures on social media such as Facebook and Twitter to show the green key color, in order to raise knowingness for the issues the industry was cladding.[94] To boot, director Ang Lee was criticized by the protest leader for his failure to thank the effect industry, "Air National Guard thanked the crew, the actors, his agent, his lawyer and the entire population of Taiwan right down to the team that well-stacked the wave-consortium on the soundstage where Pi was shot, but unsuccessful to mention hundreds of artists who made non only the chief character of the tiger, just replaced that pool, making information technology look equivalent a real ocean for 80% of his motion picture."[95] He was also criticized for originally complaining about the costs of visual effects.[95] [96] In February 2014, Christina Lee Storm and Winfield Scott Leberecht discharged the documentary Life After Private eye to YouTube.[97] The documentary details the role Rhythm & Hues played in Life of Pi as fortunate as the subsequent bankruptcy. Bill Westenhofer also discusses his experience at the Oscars as he established a Visual Effects award for Rhythm &A; Hues' work Life of Pi.[98] [99] [100] [101]

A trust onymous subsequently Carnatic musician Irayimman Thampi has accused Bombay Jayashri's Oscar-nominated birdcall "Operative's Lullaby" of non being an original composition.[102] The cartel has alleged that the initiative eighter lines of the Sung dynasty is a word-by-Scripture translation of composer Thampi's renowned lullaby in Malayalam "Omanathinkal Kidavo". Jayashri has denied the allegation.[102] [103] [104]

A 2013 investigation by the Hollywood Newsman brought to light leaked emails suggesting that animals entangled in the filming of Life of Private investigator had been mistreated during the filming despite the American Humanitarian Affiliation's "No Animals Were Harmed" certification on the motion-picture show.[105] [106] [107] In an Apr 7, 2011, AHA monitor, Gina Johnson, wrote that "last week we virtually killed Queen", in reference to a tiger used for filming. The e-mail goes on to propose that the incident, in which the tiger apparently nearly drowned while filming a scene, would be "downplayed" in the official report to the AHA. Additionally, the exposé alleges that LBJ was involved in a romantic relationship with one of the film's producers, possibly representing a conflict of interest. Life of Pi film director ANG Lee has described the animal abuse allegations as "an chance event" in interviews. Following the publication of the Hollywood Reporter probe, Gina Johnson resigned from her stead with the AHA.[108] [109]

New animal wellbeing concerns were raised in 2015 when PETA discharged a video that appeared to show Life of Pi animal trainer Michael Hackenberger curse word at and whipping a junior tiger 19 multiplication.[110] In April 2016, the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Pitilessness to Animals filed mongoose-like cruelty charges against Hackenberger supported the video evidence.[111]
